Introduction
At the Central Bank of Oman (CBO), we are committed to promoting transparency, innovation, and data-driven decision-making in Oman’s financial and economic sectors. Through our Open Data Initiative, we are making key economic, financial, and monetary data freely available to the public.
Our goal is to empower citizens, businesses, researchers, and policymakers by providing easy access to high-quality, machine-readable data. This initiative aligns with our vision to build a more open, inclusive, and digitally driven economy, and supports Oman’s broader goals of economic diversification and sustainable growth, as outlined in Oman Vision 2040.
Objectives
The primary aims of the Open Data Initiative by the Central Bank of Oman are:
Enhancing Transparency: Open data aim to empower users by providing open and transparent access to relevant banking data, fostering trust among stakeholders and beneficiaries.
Supporting Innovation and Scientific Research: by enabling startups, academics, and researchers to develop innovative, data-driven solutions.
Improving Services: By analyzing open data, weaknesses can be identified in existing services and work on evidence-based improvements.
Contributing to Oman Vision 2040: Providing open data supports the digital transformation strategy of Oman Vision 2040 by enabling knowledge-based decision-making.
Vision
Our vision by setting up the CBO open data page is to create a dynamic ecosystem where data is a catalyst for economic progress, financial inclusion, and digital transformation. We strive to contribute to Oman’s national agenda—Oman Vision 2040—by fostering a more open, transparent, and data-driven economy that encourages collaboration, innovation, and greater public participation in economic affairs.
Through this initiative, we aim to support an inclusive, knowledge-based economy that thrives on open access to reliable, high-quality data for all.
