The Central Bank of Oman accepts mutilated Banknotes from the public and exchanges them for valid notes fit for circulation.
Generally, mutilated notes are accepted only if any of the following
Conditions are fulfilled:

The full signature and one complete serial number are evident.
More than half of the note and one serial number is still intact.
If a note which would otherwise be unacceptable, but it is accompanied by a letter from the Ministry of Social Affairs or from a Wali stating the social condition of the bearer and requesting that the note be exchanged.
If a note is reported to be burnt due to a fire accident, a letter/certificate from the Royal Oman Police or Wali confirming the accident is required. The burnt notes will be presented along with the letter/certificate for exchange.
