It gives me immense pleasure to be here this morning to witness the commencement of the one-day International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) Workshop organised by Crowe Mak Ghazali. As a source of globally comparable information, IFRS Standards are of vital importance to regulators around the world.  IFRS Standards contribute to the economic efficiency by helping investors to identify opportunities and risks across the world in the same accounting language, thus improving capital allocation. The Sultanate has also stipulated that the accounting records have to be kept according to IFRS, thereby making the financial reporting more transparent and organised in the country. I take this opportunity to thank the organisers Crowe Mak Ghazali for organising regular updates on such technical topics, which is useful to the business community of Oman to adopt to the best practices prevalent in the accounting world.
