The Central Bank of Oman hosts the Capacity-Building Workshop3/12/2023 8:00:00 PMThe Central Bank of Oman hosts the Capacity-Building WorkshopThe Central Bank of Oman hosted today the Capacity-Building Workshop <div style="text-align:justify;"></div><p style="text-align:justify;">​<span style="font-size:13pt;">Muscat: Central Bank of Oman</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-3">The Central Bank of Oman hosted today the Capacity-Building Workshop organized by the Islamic Financial Services Board on Monday and Tuesday 13<sup>th</sup> – 14<sup>th</sup> March, 2023. The workshop is an embodiment of the current collaboration between CBO and IFSB.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-3">Targeting CBO and banking sector employees, the workshop focuses on three areas: Guidelines for the management of liquidity risk for Islamic financial institutions, quantitative measures for managing liquidity risk and the revised capital adequacy standard for Islamic financial institutions. The workshop is part of the 59<sup>th</sup> meeting of IFSB Technical Committee, to be held in Muscat on 15<sup>th</sup> and 16<sup>th</sup> March, 2023.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-3">It is noteworthy that IFSB is an international organization based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and is considered one of the international standard-setting entities. IFSB aims at developing and enhancing the Islamic financial services industry and its stability, by issuing prudential standards and guidelines for this industry, which mainly comprises financial markets and <em>takaful</em> (Islamic insurance). IFSB also works integrally with the Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, alongside other international supervisory and regulatory organizations concerned with the banking sector. To ensure prudent and transparent financial services, IFSB develops new international standards or aligns the existing ones according to Sharia principles.</span></p><p style="text-align:justify;"><span class="ms-rteThemeFontFace-1 ms-rteFontSize-3">CBO joined IFSB in 2012 and is currently a represented in the Executive Committee and the Technical Committee.
