CBO Announces 59th GDB Issue<img alt="" src="https://publishing.bnet.om/sites/assets/PublishingImages/English/News/GDB59NewsImage.jpg" style="BORDER:0px solid;" />11/27/2018 8:00:00 PMCBO Announces 59th GDB IssueThe Central Bank of Oman has announced the 59th Government Development Bonds (GDB) issue worth OMR 100 million with a maturity period of five years. <p style="text-align:justify;">The Central Bank of Oman has announced the 59th Government Development Bonds (GDB) issue worth OMR 100 million with a maturity period of five years. The issue will carry a coupon rate of 5 per cent per annum.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">The Issue will be open for subscription between 4<sup>th</sup>  December 2018 and 13<sup>th</sup>  December 2018 for all investors irrespective of their nationalities. The auction will be held on Sunday, 16<sup>th</sup>   December 2018, while the issue settlement date will be Tuesday 18<sup>th</sup>  December 2018. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">A media release from CBO's Monetary Operations Department (MOD) said that interest on the new bonds will be paid semiannually on 18th June and 18th December every year until the maturity date which is 18th December 2023.</p><p style="text-align:justify;">To apply for these bonds, the investors are required to submit their bids through the licensed banks operating in the Sultanate, only through the competitive bidding process. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">However, investors with applications of OMR 1 million and above can choose to submit their bids directly to CBO after getting them endorsed from their respective banks. </p><p style="text-align:justify;">It may be noted that the bonds are direct and unconditional obligations of the Government of Oman and they can be used as a collateral security to obtain loans from any local licensed bank.
