International Engagement

The Central Bank of Oman (CBO) actively collaborates with leading international and regional organizations in the Islamic finance ecosystem to enhance regulatory alignment, knowledge exchange, and market development. CBO's engagement includes participation in governance bodies, technical committees, and working groups, as well as hosting capacity-building initiatives in the Sultanate of Oman.

CBO collaborates with and actively participates in the activities of Islamic finance standard-setting bodies and international organizations:

CBO joined the IFSB in February 2012 and is currently a Full and Council Member. It is represented on the IFSB Executive Committee, Technical Committee, and multiple working groups and task forces. CBO has also hosted several IFSB meetings and workshops in the Sultanate of Oman.

The Central Bank of Oman hosted the 17th Islamic Financial Services Board Summit in Muscat in February 2026. The summit was held under the theme "Islamic Finance for the Future: Breaking New Ground for Global Impact."

CBO is represented on AAOIFI's Accounting Board, as well as several working groups.
